Would you agree that our God is a God of 2nd chances? I would say 3rd, 4th, and 5th chances, too. We sin, We make stupid decisions and do stupid things. But the point of redemption is that we not live in those things. God gives us repeat opportunities to correct our mistakes and move forward. He did that very thing for Joshua at Ai.

Last week we saw how Israel was defeated at Ai because a curse had been brought on the camp. They had to own up to that curse and deal with – by eliminating it – in order to get right before God. Chapter 8 shows us the results of Israel’s dealing with the curse. In short, they went against Ai a second time and won – and they won big. If there’s one central theme to this portion of text it’s this: obedience to God always wins the day.
