Gabriel Brings Glad Tidings – Lk. 1:24-45
In the introduction to Luke we learned that this gospel was actually a letter written to Theophilus, to confirm those things he had previously heard about Jesus. We also saw Zacharias get confirmation of Malachi’s prophecy when is wife got pregnant. Today, we will see yet another confirmation of God’s Word in the story of Mary being visited by Gabriel. The big difference between Zacharias and Mary is how they respond to Gabriel’s message.
As we go through this study, keep in mind the main point of last week’s: when God seeks to confirm his Word to you or in you, how do you respond? Do you request proof before you’ll believe? A lot of people – even in the church – don’t believe that Jesus was miraculously conceived of a virgin. They think that the virgin birth is a myth. Where do you stand?
