OMG! It’s the Omicron Variant!

Mask mandate and corovirus

As a general rule, I don’t like to mix politics with matters of faith. But when politics affect matters of faith directly, that’s a different question. Such is the case with COVID and the new omicron variant.

I recently heard from friends lamenting the fact that their church had returned to requiring that masks be worn in the sanctuary. Strangely enough, people can remove their masks when hanging around in the fellowship hall – where they are much more likely to spread the virus, I might add – after service.

The logic escapes me. But what is more disturbing is that so many churches continue to live in fear of a virus with a 98.5% survival rate and a mere 16% infection rate. And it’s not just the one church my friend mentioned.

I have other friends whose churches are doing similar things. I know of churches that remained closed this past weekend out of fear of omicron. I know of others that are up and running on Sundays but are sparsely attended because their members are still too scared to be in the presence of others.

Christians are living in fear of a virus. But even worse, they are bowing down at the feet of the CDC like so many people in Babylon did before Nebuchadnezzar’s idol thousands of years ago.

Bowing Before Nebuchadnezzar

You remember the story of Daniel in the lion’s den, right? How about the story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego being thrown in the fiery furnace? These three men were instructed, along with a large group of Babylonian leaders, to bow down before an idol made by King Nebuchadnezzar.

What was the deal? Nebuchadnezzar made a huge statue and claimed it to be a god. Every time the music played, the assembled leaders and dignitaries were supposed to bow down to the statue and worship it. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego refused. They made it clear they would worship no God but Jehovah. As a result, they were thrown in the fiery furnace. Yet not even Nebuchadnezzar’s murderous rage could kill them. Jesus himself protecting the men to the extent that not a hair on their heads was singed.

A Modern-Day Nebuchadnezzar

My friends, Washington politicians are a modern Nebuchadnezzar whose golden image is the CDC. The CDC is to be believed and submitted to above all else. The CDC is to be worshiped as the be-all-and-end-all of all things health related. When they ring their bell and pipe their flute, they expect every person in the United States to bow before them. If you don’t bow, you will face severe consequences.

Listen folks, this COVID thing is NEVER going to end. World governments have hit on a winning formula with coronavirus. They have found it to be an incredibly easy way to control the masses through fear – no guns or bombs required.

They will continue to use coronavirus to rule by fear because it works. But unlike Nebuchadnezzar, they won’t play music. When they want you to bow down, they will come up with a new variant. They will report a new surge in cases. They will impose a mask mandate and a bonus vaccine mandate.

Don’t bow down and you’ll be vilified. You may lose your job. Don’t bow down and you won’t be able to go out in public. The police might even stop you from buying food.

Don’t Bother with Romans

If you’re thinking of leaving your comments and lecturing me about Romans 13, don’t bother. Instead, go back and read Romans 13 yourself. Pay particular attention to what God says about the government’s role – to promote the good and punish the evil.

Nebuchadnezzar was not promoting the good and punishing the evil with his statue. In fact, he was doing the exact opposite. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego refused to go along. Likewise, the CDC and their political lapdogs are not promoting good and punishing evil with their coronavirus mandates.

Coronavirus mandates have never been about promoting the good. They have never been about protecting the public health. That’s why people have to sue to get life-saving ivermectin on behalf of a dying relative. It’s why the CDC and FDA still fight against ivermectin because they say there is no proof it works, YET they keep pushing vaccines that have only been approved on an emergency basis – without the years of clinical study normally required to gain approval.

Moreover, vaccines and masks do not work. There is a mountain of evidence to prove they don’t work, including the four cruise ships that recently suffered COVID outbreaks despite masking policies and vaccine mandates for all passengers and crew.

If vaccines and masks worked, there would have been no problems aboard those cruise ships. But they don’t work. We all know it. The CDC knows it. The president, your governor, and all your local politicians know it. They keep up the charade because it’s a way to control people through fear and intimidation.

You Have a Choice

Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego chose to trust and obey the LORD rather than live in fear. Daniel did the same thing. As a Christian, you have the same choice. The CDC is the government’s coronavirus idol comparable to Nebuchadnezzar’s statue. Your fiery furnace or lion’s den could be anything from the fear of getting sick to the consequences of daring to disobey your CDC masters.

Are you going to bow down every time the king plays the music? Are you going to continue to live in fear? Are you going to continue to allow coronavirus to dictate how you practice your faith? If so, you should probably reconsider what you believe. Perhaps your god isn’t the God of the Bible. Perhaps it is a god of your own imagination.

Not me. I will not bow before the CDC. I will not bow before anyone but the LORD God Almighty. Not even if I am the only person left on earth to stand against the evil tyrant.
