You have undoubtedly heard the phrase ‘you can’t put God in a box’. We say that to mean that God can do anything he wants to do. He isn’t constrained by human thought or man-made rules. In this study, I want to take the idea a little bit further. I want to propose that God cannot be boxed in terms of his authority or his will. He is sovereign. He alone has authority over all of creation. To question his authority is to prove your own foolishness.
It is sad that so many people blame God for all that is wrong in the world. They are convinced he is real when they need someone to blame for their troubles – or when they need help out of a jam. But mention the need to bow down and repent and, suddenly, God doesn’t exist. The thing is that everyone knows he exists. His reality is written on the soul of every human being. The unfortunate thing is that we try to make God conform to our own thoughts and desires. He refuses to be conformed to us. He demands that we be conformed to him.
