We’re all familiar with the idiom, “the ball is in your court”. It says that you have done and said all you can, now it’s up to the other person to make a decision. As we close this letter to the Galations, that’s where Paul is. He has laid out the Biblical position on law and grace. He has made every argument in defense of Jesus alone, in contrast to the Judaizers’ message of Jesus plus Moses. Now the Galatian believers must decide which way they want to go.
If we are honest with ourselves, the LORD puts us in this same position rather frequently. We might not always recognize it, but he still does it. The Word says what it says. God has given us all the information we need. He leaves it up to us to make a decision. Fortunately, those who choose God get to keep walking with him. Those who choose another option are left to their own devices. Folks, this is why staying in the Word is so important. It puts the ball in our court – whether we acknowledge it or not.
