Our Witness to the World – I Pet. 3:1-12

Today’s text is one that causes a lot of friction in the Church. I find it (the friction) quite disheartening and a bit sad because it’s so unnecessary. God knows what he’s doing. When we sidestep or reinterpret the Word to soften and align it with modern thinking, we end up in rebellion against God to our own detriment.

Last week we talked about being in subjection to our political leaders; submitting ourselves to every ordinance. Why? Because that’s what God wants; because we are his mouthpiece to the world. Likewise for servants submitting to their masters. Peter continues in chapter 3 with wives, husbands, and the collective Church body. God has a purpose in all of this. It’s not to make us miserable, by the way. We need to trust him.
