When You’re NOT Feeling It – Psalms 42-44
The entire collection of psalms was, at some point following the return from Babylon, organized into 5 books. The first book included psalms 1-41. David is the sole author. Beginning with psalm 42, we are into the second book. Authorship changes from this point forward. We see psalms from David, Solomon, Asaph, and the sons of Korah. Most are unknown. Also note that we will see a decided change in tone and writing style.
We will cover Ps. 42-44 this morning, our main topic being a soul that is cast down. In other words, the writers of these three psalms were not feeling it. They were depressed perhaps. They were down and out and feeling like they had been abandoned by God. Here’s a secret: such feelings are normal. God isn’t surprised or bothered by them.
