The King Comes Clean – Psalm 50
Be honest: how many times have you sinned and then tried to cover it up? How often do you refer to your sin as ‘messing up’ or ‘making a mistake’? I’ll raise my hand. I am guilty, just like you. But God would have us do things differently. He wants us to call sin what it is. He wants us to own up when we sin, confess it to him, then repent and ask forgiveness.
Owning up, confessing, repenting, and asking forgiveness are all acts of humility. When done with humility, they demonstrate a broken heart and a contrite spirit – the two things God wants more than the greatest sacrifice. He shows us a clear example here in Psalm 50, using David as the example.
